Guidelines for Dark Empire Raids:

Welcome to the world of raiding!.  Even though it's a world of adventure and excitement.  Raiding with the Empire will enable you to gain some nice loot, maybe some experience, but, all-in-all, it's a chance to fight in zones you'd not normally be able to at your present level.  It's a good opportunity to be with friends and have a great time!  Please remember, most raids take a minimum of 4 hours and go longer.  Don't go into a raid expecting to get experience like a grind...there is a good chance your bar won't budge.  The "experience" comes from working together to become a sum of more than our parts and hopefully bringing home the booty to prove it.

The success of a raid depends on a couple of major factors:  1) Preparedness and 2) Willingness to follow directions.

In order to make your raiding experiences as pleasurable, fun-filled and exciting as possible, the following guideline should be adhered to:

Preparedness

  1.  Please Visit EQAtlas (recommended) or EQ Maps and print Map and other pertinent information regarding zone to be raided.

  2.  Acquaint yourselves with mobs and with the zone in general.  Know what spells may or may not be effective.    Also, make a note of items of particular purpose that you may need (i.e. keys, gems, resist gear, batwings for levitate, fish scales for EB, etc.)

  3.  For additional information you may want to check the Equipment, Bestiary, Strategy and Quest Links found on the EQAtlas website.  These sites are designed to give you an even greater insight into the zone.

  4.  Equip yourself accordingly. Make sure that you have enough supplies to last you quite a while. Please make sure all necessary items are on you; and if you have extras, it is helpful to bring this also. There invariably is always one person who runs out of something.

  5.  Make a MA (main assist) and SA (secondary assist) hot key.

  6.  Take anti-lag measures when necessary (i.e. /showspellseffects off, /serverfilter on, clip plane all the way down, 3D Sky off).

  7.  Approximately one hour before the raid is scheduled, please park yourself in a porter (druid, wizzy) accessible spot. If you plan on using other form of transportation other than Guild Druid/Wizzy Ports, please make sure that you arrive at the designated meeting spot at least 30 minutes prior to the raid. IF you log on late or right at the scheduled start time and decide to announce you need a port then, don't expect to get one, and don't get upset when you don't. Be thankful if you do.  One of the most annoying and aggravating things about raids is the "hold-up" while waiting for late-comers.  Please be considerate.

  8.  When asked to join the raidchat channel, please join it immediately when announced.

  9.  LISTEN TO YOUR RAID LEADER.  Your ultimate safety and success of the raid depends on this.  The Raid Leader is responsible for coordinating the raiding groups, handing out group assignments and delegating responsibilities, not to mention leading the raiding party to the camp.   Please follow his instructions to the letter.

  10. Please keep chatting down to a minimum on the raid channel.  This doesn't mean we can't say anything, just make sure you aren't spamming.

  11.  Buff Group...You can never be too buffed :)

  12. Know the people in your group...chances are if you have a cleric in your group and you are a druid or shammy you may find yourself in the position of secondary healer, etc.

  13. Pets -- This is a sore spot in a lot of first time raiders.  Pets can be a hindrance instead of a help in some zones, please, please, please check with your Raid Leader before assuming your cute little pet is a necessary addition to the raiding party.

Arriving in the raid zone

  1.  Stay together with the raiding party...DO NOT WANDER.  LISTEN to the Raid Leader's directions very carefully.

  2.  When you arrive at the specific area to be camped, rebuff if necessary.

  3. STAY ALERT...Bad things happen very quickly sometimes.  If we aren't ready for them, unfortunate consequences may occur.

  4.  Don't Panic if something goes wrong...Don't EVAC out unless you are specifically told to do so by the raid leader.    Often a group with a porter will be EVAC'd out in the hopes of saving as many as possible.  Remain calm and LISTEN to the Raid Leader for instructions.

  5.  When pulling starts...follow specific instructions from the Main Tank.  It is IMPERATIVE that you use the Main Assist Hot Key whenever you are assisting in the battle.  The reason for this is that although every effort is made to pull only one mob at a time, adds are inevitable and you may break the mezz or root if you target the wrong mob.  Main Assist guarantees you will be hitting/nuking the same mob as the MT.  PLEASE NOTE:  The Main Tank may or may not be the Raid Leader, if he is not the Raid Leader, you must LISTEN to him when he is pulling.

  6.  DO NOT ASSIST PRIOR TO RECEIVING INSTRUCTION BY MT.  It is extremely important that the MT maintains the aggro at all times.  Any violation of this may result in anything from being reprimanded verbally to complete disbandment from the raid (if this behavior continues).

  7.  Continue to buff group as necessary.  Announce in raidchat when you are low on mana or out of mana.

  8.  Should you die,  STAY CALM.    It may take a while, but you will be rezzed as fast as possible.  Try to get a loc if at all possible to assist people in locating your corpse and pulling it back to a safe zone for rez.  Expect to die at least once and be pleasantly pleased if you remain unscathed for the whole raid.  Complaining and grumbling about dying is just about as aggravating as arriving late and is only secondary to not following the Raid Leader's instructions.  It will not be tolerated and may result in you finding yourself without a rez and disbanded from the raid.

  9.  Leaving the raid early...Although this is not recommended, sometimes it is necessary for reasons beyond your control.  You are responsible for a) informing the Raid Leader at the beginning of the raid and once again approximately 5 minutes before you are scheduled to leave and b) procuring your own way out of a raiding zone with as little disruption to the raiding party as possible.  In the event of an emergency, arrangements will be made to immediately port you out.

  10.  Looting -- Currently we will be using an NBG system of looting.  The Raid Leader will assign master looting assignments accordingly.  When something is looted that is a "NO DROP" the ML will announce the item in raid chat; and, if you are interested in (Main's only at first please) this item, you must immediately announce your interest for this item in raidchat. It will be up to the Raid Leader's discretion as to how he wants to handle multiple requests for the same item.  The ideal situation is that EVERYONE in the raiding party walks away with something, but there have been those times.....All other items will be held by the ML(s) for the raiding party until the raid is over and we can dispense them in a safe place.  Money collected from a raid is not disbursed to the raiding party but is held in the guild bank to finance gems, etc. necessary for future raids.  All items looted at a Raid and not claimed immediately after the raid will go into

  11.  When raid is over, porting will be made available to all. It is imperative that all porters leave no one behind.

  12. HAVE FUN and ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE!

Disciplinary Actions to be Taken

Since we all are raiding for fun, loot, and experience, we must also remember that cooperation is the key to any successful raid. Members who refuse to follow the Guild Raid Guidelines will be sanctioned as follows:

Offense: Spamming Raid Chat
This is neither the time or the place to discuss what to do with AA points, what gear your alt should get, or the secret recipe for Aunt Martha's Prize Winning Apple Pie. All focus should go to the subject at hand...the Raid. That doesn't mean you can't "crack a funny" to alleviate tension, but keep it short and to the point.
Action: 1st time Warning
2nd time Disbanded from Raid

Offense: Not listening to Raid Leader's instructions
Everyone will be given instructions at the beginning of Raid to determine your function within the Raid. It is extremely important that you follow these instructions! If you're a chanter and you're instructions are to mez and slow mobs, haste and cast mana regen buff, then please do so and nothing more! A cleric that's told to heal and buff should do only that! It doesn't do a raiding group any good if you're nuking the mobs and find yourself Out of Mana when the going gets tough.
Action: 1st time Warning
2nd time Disbanded from Raid

Offense: Not being where you are supposed to be
Getting lost is one thing, but going back to loot mobs left behind is another. Master Looter's will be appointed by the Raid Leader at the beginning of each raid. Why? To ensure that no one is accused of Ninja looting. If some mobs are left behind, please get permission from the Raid Leader to see if you can loot these critters before doing so. Additionally, gating out, logging off or zoning out to safeguard your asp is NOT acceptable. Porters will have evac spells up in accordance with the Raid Leader's instructions and will use them if, and when, the order is given by the Raid Leader. If you're OOM, you can still be effective and helpful by wielding your weapon. Further by wielding your weapon, you are contributing to the demise of the critter and in effect staying close to the mob and the group in general and will make it much easier to evac everyone out as a group instead of finding yourself alone with the mob.
Action: Automatic disbanding from the Raid

Offense: Leaving Raid Members behind after the Raid
Granted, there will be some players who must log prior to the end of the Raid and they are expected to let the Raid Leader know prior to the Raid if possible and make plans for their own transportation needs. All other Raid Members will be guaranteed ports out of the Raid Zone by the Wizards and/or Druids in the Raiding Party. Porters will be responsible to port out all members of the Raiding Party to either POK or The Nexus. Any porters leaving some or all of their group behind will be banned from the next Guild Raid and if any members of the Raiding Party are killed due to the negligence of the porter, it will be the porter's responsibility to procure a rezzer and pay for the cost of the rez.

Offense : Not knowing the current raid rules.
Everyone is requested to read the latest raid rules.
Action : Automatic disbanding from the raid.
